Inspired by fellow writer "Kleos" who posted Ricochet "sold tawdry slop to the degenerate masses" in his review of my piece"Thoughts on the Popular Reading List." Now that's some funny s**t.

I'm a low brow degenerate
A tiny brain dead fool
For joining the Marine Corps
and not going to school

I could have studied literature
From Europe's golden past
But I defended America 
I'm from a different cast

My girlfriend's a degenerate
A stupid little rube
The decline of civilization
will crawl out of her womb

Crazy ideas get in her head
from watching FOX TV
Perhaps she needs a CAT scan
for hooking up with me

We'll raise degenerate children
A reproduction spree
We'll all vote for Republicans
The left's catastrophe

Make the bible scientific
Reverse Roe VS Wade
Force the religious politic
Correct what God Forbade

We're all filthy degenerates
Looking to catch a score
Every man a walking penis
Every girl a sleazy w***e

We spread filthy sex diseases
licking our naughty bits
We spray semen on the sidewalk
Because we're all halfwits

The world is all degenerates
From Paris to Madrid
We all succumb to base instincts
and listen to the id

We're a drunken mob of savages
Screaming for blood and sex
The b******s of Evolution
The universe rejects

Author's Note

What Kleos got his panties in a wad over I'm not entirely sure. At least I got a poem out of it. Thank you all my degenerate masses as I am one of your degenerate masses.

I don't know whether you are well educated and/or one of those people fortunate enough to be born into this world with a silver spoon in their mouth and it matters not to me anyway, as I suspect you are like me, viewed by such people as I've mentioned as a ' low brow degenerate' ! ( your phrase )

However, material wealth and /or University education are no guarantee of intelligence! A point you so brilliantly convey with this highly intelligent, witty and succinct poem you've composed to counter the 'Kleos' theory on humanity !! What stone is he hiding under ?

I cannot for the life of me understand why someone would pick a fight with you, verbal or otherwise. But I digress.

All I will say is that we are all flawed. That's why were human and not gods. And since we are all flawed, all human, and all tethered to the earth, if there is any hope we need to start giving each other a break, seek to understand and not judge. We are not in competition with each other we are in it together. If poets are picking fights with each other ...

That said as always your satire is brilliant, but with satire not everyone gets it. I say pen on; you're one brave pen. But the other thing with satire--if you're not pissing someone off, you're doing it wrong.

Of course I had to go and read back through your "Thoughts on the popular reading list". I am in the class of degenerates for sure. But I know who I am, I f*****g love me, I really love me. People are people and you need all types to make life work. Degenerates are needed at every level. Otherwise the great people would never know how great they really are. LOL

Oh I love this. Grimy without being smutty, but also conveys a good point. We are all savage in some way, and society is pretty much going to s**t. I really like what you did with this piece, and the rhyme was superb. I especially loved the last stanza, because it really tied everything together and flowed marvelously. Well done, Ricochet.
