Writer's Block Awaits

Writer's Block Awaits

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

The beast

"

My keyboard is a cinder block
My brain has turned to cake
I'm in that dark and scary place
where writer's block awaits

He's a sneaky thieving demon
My big creative drain
He stuck a straw into my ear
and sucked my little brain

His empty screen stares back at me
when lines and rhymes won't come
He tangles words inside my head
until my skull is numb

He's in the words I never wrote
He's on my empty page
He's the open mic night heckler
who threw up on the stage

He works his evil on this site
when writers disappear
He sells them into slavery
A wicked auctioneer

He's stalking everyone of us
He wants to eat our brains
He's hiding in your closet
He slithers up your drains

Thy wicked demon writer's block
My soul is what you crave
The day I shed this mortal coil
You'll dance upon my grave

Lol amazing poem although I'm quite lucky not to have many encounters with him at this point. Maybe it's because my brain doesn't seem to shut off especially when I need it to the most :)

Thank you Pride. I'm glad you liked it
An original, yet accurate depiction of the beast!
I guess many are gone for a stretch due to writer's block. Since poetry isn't my first love in writing, I may leave while writing my stories (which I don't post anywhere before publishing). I've been more active the past year than all the previous years combined, but stories are calling to be finished so readings will be the only thing from me for a long time here at the cafe.
Loved the message and rhyme! No writer's block latched onto you :)

I know him, he sucks. The poem, however, is great.

Perfect description of the beast - who, by the way, clearly has been leaving you alone. I do think I heard him in my closet, though... Spot on-rhyme, great personification!

You've certainly touched on a subject we can all identify with. Everyone of us will experience a low tide in our writing when the words, phrases or ideas escape us, leaving no clues as to their whereabouts. Time away to recharge and reflect is an alternative that has benefits. When we feel renewed we can once again put pen to page with confidence. I enjoy your rhymes and the way they flow. Good work.
