Writer's Block Awaits

Writer's Block Awaits

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

The beast

"

My keyboard is a cinder block
My brain has turned to cake
I'm in that dark and scary place
where writer's block awaits

He's a sneaky thieving demon
My big creative drain
He stuck a straw into my ear
and sucked my little brain

His empty screen stares back at me
when lines and rhymes won't come
He tangles words inside my head
until my skull is numb

He's in the words I never wrote
He's on my empty page
He's the open mic night heckler
who threw up on the stage

He works his evil on this site
when writers disappear
He sells them into slavery
A wicked auctioneer

He's stalking everyone of us
He wants to eat our brains
He's hiding in your closet
He slithers up your drains

Thy wicked demon writer's block
My soul is what you crave
The day I shed this mortal coil
You'll dance upon my grave

Great write you have here. Well done and rhymed. Reminds me a bit of one I wrote called Writer's Blockage. He will get us all and sure he has gotten most if not all already, lol.

we all know this little devil so well...
he loves to block and makes us stuck...
empty papers & empty words...
drives our brain to shreds...
but then all we have to do is have patience
rest & unwind to relax the nerves
to found the muse, we want to serve...

very expressive my friend!

Just terrific! I loved (and could identify with) every word and emotion. Your rhythm and rhyme are done to perfection - you're obviously one great writer, even with the much dreaded Writer's Block waiting for you in dark alleys.

How very true. Been having writers block all night when it comes to my book. But when I can't think of something serious to say I come up with vulgar crap. Win, Win I guess. At least I'm still writing. LOL

I feel you Dye. Half the work I post is vulgar crap in an effort to avoid writers block.

Well said, BR. This is really a brilliant piece, you're more talented than you look - (not that you don't look talented - lol). You have a great handle on rhyme and metre, and the humour that makes it worthwhile. Kudos.

Oh, I know that demon well...he's been tormenting me all summer. Sometimes I am afraid that my well has gone dry, my muse has left me, I've nothing more to say...and I can almost hear him laughing at me. I swear I can smell his rancid breath, just a couple of feet from my face!
You have done a masterful job of bringing that monster to the page, Baby. This piece is absolutely awesome. As you once said to me...I wish I had written it. You are a genius.
Thank you for this amazing write!!
