SlaughterHouse Dreams

SlaughterHouse Dreams

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

It's a poem. With rhymes and s**t.

"

Got a job in a slaughterhouse
on top of grinding gears
Strapping pigs to electric chairs
for bovine profiteers

Wrap hooves with conductor wire
Then throw the killing switch
I work for piss and vinegar
Make profits for the rich

Exploit the lands of Africa
Cow them with the lash
Our founding fathers ambitions
A slave holder's panache

Running guns across the desert
Rape the land for spoils
Waging war for profit margins
The price of diamond oil

Exploiting fears of terrorism
So hate can germinate
Turn the land of milk and honey
Into a fascist state

Ride the backs of common people
Until we're broken down
Profiteers eat all our children
while we all slowly drowned

Working in this slaughterhouse
listening to the screams
Watching entrails on the walls
turn into payday dreams

Stick electrodes into piggy
one last screaming squeal
Hit the switch electric twitch
then hang it on the wheel

You bring the real with grit and honesty, I like that, never sugar coat the truth...

What a contrast you have going here... the short, rhyming verses that keep this playful rhythm make it feel lighthearted, but the raw, powerful words bite and sting as they creep into the psyche... I have to say the effect is quite profound.. The images are disturbing and add to the seriousness of your message brilliantly. The lines that really "hit" me was where you described the exploiting of fear so that hate can grow... That is so sad but very true... some of your word choices here are so spot-on and pack a hard emotional punch. all I can say is, wow..

Haha! That was awesome!

Great rhymes, funny but thought provoking content, and a really great pace.
I could hear the attitude in your voice (the voice I've assigned you in my head).

Dripping with smart a*s and sarcasm.

Ah B.R. I love your selection of themes for your work. there's no limit to what you won't tackle with words. This is no exception except that it is exceptional. Thanks for this one.

Thanks doc. I appreciate it
I never reviewed this and I don't know why. Your skills with a pen are evident and on fire in this one. You always write the truth no matter what the subject and this is no different. Your rhythm is meter perfect. (I'm a drummer 45 years, I should know. ha) Always interesting words from you Ric. Great job.

Porcine - poor creatures to be eternally associated with the greedy.
Turn your head away and lust for even the tiniest mite of the needy.
Every little cent to scalp, squeeze them out till their blood runs dry.
Feign and fake, manipulate, spread tales till panic runs sky-high.
For in the end, all you are asking for now makes sense
Drain them off to their very last hard-won cent.
