SlaughterHouse Dreams

SlaughterHouse Dreams

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

It's a poem. With rhymes and s**t.

"

Got a job in a slaughterhouse
on top of grinding gears
Strapping pigs to electric chairs
for bovine profiteers

Wrap hooves with conductor wire
Then throw the killing switch
I work for piss and vinegar
Make profits for the rich

Exploit the lands of Africa
Cow them with the lash
Our founding fathers ambitions
A slave holder's panache

Running guns across the desert
Rape the land for spoils
Waging war for profit margins
The price of diamond oil

Exploiting fears of terrorism
So hate can germinate
Turn the land of milk and honey
Into a fascist state

Ride the backs of common people
Until we're broken down
Profiteers eat all our children
while we all slowly drowned

Working in this slaughterhouse
listening to the screams
Watching entrails on the walls
turn into payday dreams

Stick electrodes into piggy
one last screaming squeal
Hit the switch electric twitch
then hang it on the wheel

First, this is Rhea752, had to get a different account

Secondly, ow. My brain has been scarred. The imagery was vivid and the message couldn't be any clearer. I absolutely love this poem. Keep up the great writing :)

Im sorry I didnt get to this earlier BR. Its a brilliant commentary on the way the world is and how its is going to stay the way it is unless people wake up - thankfully we have poets like you to wake us from our stupor

for all your smartassery - you usually have a much deeper - serious edge to your work - as it is with this one. You make a strong point about the human condition. And then you punch the reader in the nuggets just to make sure we got it. Bravo!

There are electric chairs for pigs ? Why would they do that ? Pigs are basically very intelligent animals and don't do us any harm. Isn't it enough we make food out of them today without adding to that, torture ?
