Circus of discontent

Circus of discontent

A Poem by Baby Ricochet

Precious words I'd been looking for
I never seem to find
Slip through the shattered window
The filters of my mind

Stumbling around in the darkness
Like a broken Dinosaur
Tripping on my own indifference
Pinned down by old armor

It never really occurred to me
How far I'd have to go
To pack away my memories
From moments long ago

Looking for the right warm rectum
In a fun house full of sin
A merry go round going nowhere
A new ride to begin

Ferris wheel Zippers go spinning
Rods and gears tumbling down
Wasted on crack w***e drippings
It eats black holes in the ground

Shoveling rock into memory holes
Coping with blighted thoughts
Lured away by a black vagina
The best vice I ever bought

But all of it turned to nothing
I was left all alone
A monument to self absorption
Eating my own tail bone

Now Protected by commitment
I sit up in the bleachers
To watch the circus of discontent
My demon's favorite teacher

Start with What a Flipper of an image.
Ah and what a write. The piece it self breathes and seethes of the discontent found within your closing content. Man this has got to be a favorite of mine by far as your work, and general work of the site. You often get me to laugh or even anger, but oh this time, the thoughts and the mental imagery. The concept attached to picture. Man the feel of an evil circus or big top event. I often find the things we least wish to think of the one's deserving of the most attention, even if only to question why it is the back drop and shadow to every single good willed person. This piece in true artistic fashion is a fun Ideaology within metaphor for me. Can't say I have the skill nor want to critique this, it's pure ART and I love it.
It would be great if I could place it in my library favorites please, Ricochet?

I like the use of the circus to make your point in the poem. The photo was very good. Life is like a circus. We dance and sing and hope we land on our feet.

Memories are minions that come back to get you when you least expect it. This is a powerful and raw poem - I read it three or four times - just to grasp it - not because its not easily understood but just because I didn't want to skim and go "yeah, ok. Nice poem" Its not a "Nice" poem - and the things that birthed - they aren't nice either. Sometimes poetry is a caress and sometimes its a back hand to the face. And then there's this gem. It goes for the soft place where one lives. Brilliant.

When I first saw your profile I wasn't sure what to think about you. For now I think you are an amazing writer who has seen many things in your life. One day people all over the world will read your writings, and you will be even more appreciated than Whitman. Keep writing!!!!

Why thank you Rhea. I appreciate it.
Damn, BR. That is a very deep and profound poem. There is a great deal to take away from this reading, a dark journey, self discovery, reclamation on many levels (at least how I read it), and the redemption and hope of finding the light after traveling through such darkness. A very exceptional piece, Mark!
