The Poet

A quick write for s***s and giggles

 
I licked the hand rail on the bus
           I wanted a disease
    I wanted to suffer for my art
    Van Gogh move over please

  I want choking lungs of leprosy
      or at least some old TB
I want to shake my fist and shout
          Art did this to me

I want to be the suffering poet
        no one understands
I want to write tortured verses
      with my genius hands

I want to write romantic sonnets
     to chicks I'll never bone
I want to sit at home all night
       Miserable and alone

I want to stand around and brood
           Looking suicidal
I want to quote old Oscar Wilde
           as my only idol

  I want to get beat up every day
            for not fitting in
  I want to wear it on my sleeve
           extra long and thin

 You better tell me I'm sensitive bitch
             or I'll kick your a*s
So I'll just pound my key board now
       and let the roid rage pass

F**k this man I'm hitting the weights
            I am just who I am
 Love me hate me want to kill me
           I don't give a damn

Author's Note

Yes I know leprosy isn't a lung disease but it's the best line in the poem.
The dude in the photo is Morrissey. Former Vocalist for The Smiths, brilliant solo artist and voice of the lonely, miserable and disenfranchised everywhere. He's really funny at times too. Why Morrissey for this? Fuck, I don't know. I just really like Morrissey.

Well Oscar Wilde had some hilarious things to say. He's got some great quotes. Just saying...
Love it. There are no rules to being a poet or artist of any sort as so many people seem to think. Being whoever the f**k you are is about the most artistic thing you can be, weather that is a tortured individual, a guy who likes to go to the gym, a social, pretty person or anything else for that matter.
