The Blade, Tate Morgan, jkmatz and Baby Ricochet

A Story by Baby Ricochet
"

Flame war? Naaaa.

"
On April 12 2013 in the comment Thread of Tate Morgan's poem "The Blade" I posted the following comment:

"Women can't teach boys how to be men.
They need a father figure for that's one of
the reasons violence with young people
is getting out of hand."

Well boys and girls that turned out to be a very poor choice of words and was found to be offensive to some folks here on the WC and for that I duly apologize. I was in no way implying that women are incapable of doing an exemplary job of raising children on their own. That would be a really stupid thing to say and Baby Ricochet isn't a stupid man. If I may be allowed to elaborate what I meant was boys need fathers, girls need fathers, the whole stinking world needs a father. There are things about maleness women can't teach boys in the same way there are things about femininity men can't teach girls. Boys know this instinctively and when they can't find the positive male mentoring they so desperately need at home they'll go find it elsewhere and sometimes that doesn't turn out so great. Like when they find that mentoring in older boys who are engaging in various criminal antisocial activities or older men whom may exploit them.  The fault in this doesn't lye at the feet of the mother, it lays at the feet of the young man (older boy really) whom left her holding the baby, his baby, because he wasn't mature enough to take responsibility for his actions because he never met a man who did. The Marine Corps is full of young men who craved male mentoring so badly they joined the corps to find it. I was one of those young men and yes I found what I was looking for, in spades.
So far as this jkmatz person is concerned I was not aware of him/her until this morning when the WC'S free verse super talent and my friend "Muse" Pmed me with a link to jkmatz post. It's clear that jkmatz has a vendetta with Tate Morgan and was using my comment as a bridge to bash Tate and his piece "The Blade." I briefly reviewed jkmatz and found his/her entire body of work on the WC to consist of three pieces all themed on mockery of this site and some of the good folks whom post on it. Whatever jkmatz or anyone speaking on this individual's behalf may wish to claim there is no denying such behavior is consistent with trolls. The scourge of cyber communities everywhere. I left one post on jkmatz's thread stating thus:

"I have reviewed jkmatz's work and have found the entire body
to consist of three pieces mocking the WC. This individual is
clearly a troll and as such is not worth a comment."

Then I blocked jkmatz. The first and hopefully only writer I'll ever have to block on this site. Like many of the good and talented folks posting here I'm a WC junkie and my time on the site is limited and I really don't want to waste any of it dealing with a troll.

So that's my side of this "misfortune of communication." Again I apologize for any offense anyone took at my poor choice of words. All of us on the WC share the common bond of a passion for the written word and we're fortunate to have this site as a forum we can express ourselves in, read the expressions of others and chat with other talented writers we would otherwise never meet. The WC is a wonderful gift. Thank you.
Baby Ricochet.

Read a book called "The Tender Bar" by JR Moehringer. It was good. It was about a kid who had to find his father figures. He found his in the bar down the street. But it was good.
I agree with you.
And people get offended too damn easily. That is thing that bothers me on this site. All the wusses who get offended!

Don't see how your comment was misconstrued. Some people will argue with a lamp post. Good read and write.

TamTamT. I get the feeling we've met.
Well spoken Billy Goat Gruff, let the troll live under the bridge, in the dark, in the wet, alone, cold and wet.... lets just cross the bridge and go into the meadow and eat grass.
