How to rid yourself of toxic anger

How to rid yourself of toxic anger

A little advice

"
Here's a few tips on ridding yourself of chronic, toxic anger. The kind you've been dragging around for years and is steadily eroding your life into an alienated, miserable little troll. First, be unconditionally loving with something in your life that's way to stupid to know any better. I do this with my cat. You can use a dog or a retarded kid or anything else you come across but it has to be alive and it has to reciprocate the love you shower on it. That's why it has to be to stupid to know any better. Otherwise it's going to wonder what in the hell you're up to. Next every single time you start indulging in your angry fantasies, whatever they may be, talk yourself out of them. Face facts, your toxic anger, attractive and righteous though it may be is making you miserable and it's very likely alienating you from the rest of humanity. That's a lonely, painful place to be in. Next start smiling and saying hi to people for no reason. Some folks will look at you like you got a craw fish hanging out of your nose but most folks will smile and say hi right back at ya cause just like you, they wanna feel loved and accepted too. Next start looking for and appreciating all the little joys in life. A cool drink of water on a hot day, birds playing in a bird bath, wind rustling through trees, ants crawling around on a wall, the way shadows are always changing. There's vertually dozens of daily moments you can do this with. Next start really appreciating little kids. Kids are some of the funniest people in the world and learning to appreciate them is a big wake up call for the little kid in you. You don't have to make some big deal out of it. Just smile at them and they usually smile right back.  Next find yourself a partner (or more) and start having satisfying sex. If you've been dilligent with these suggestions and ridding yourself of toxic anger and depression finding a lover is way easier than it sounds. Just pay attention to the people around you and eager suitors start popping up out of the woodwork. Next start meditating. All meditating is is sitting still and doing nothing. Any moron can do that. The last thing you should do is decide on a spiritual path if you want to take one at all. I know this is the opposite direction most of you have been told but the problem with Americans and spiritual paths is we'll read about them and take no action when the reality is the opposite. So go out into the world, be nice to your fellow folks and get laid. Then you will know peace

Thank you Emily
You should write self-help books. I wouldn't read dare tread the section, but I know of many others that would need this advice rather than the ever-too-common, `you're problems are God's plan!,` `seek enlightenment with Buddha!,` and everything subsequently pointing your problems' roots towards some disbelief in another religion. I swear they might as well be waging war in that section.

Hey I've been telling people this for years!! Some anger is normal and healthy. But if your walking around rigid with anger and hate you ate going to stroke out and die. To a great extent we choose our outlook on life. Instead of wrapping yourself in a cloak of righteous anger make some life changes to find a little peace and happiness. Great piece!!

Good advice, BR.
I used to live in a county of a little over 10,000 people. Everyone always waved when driving past the other. When one wasn't heard from in a couple of days, they were checked in on. No child ever went hungry or well clothed, or without a Christmas tree and presents. It was a good place to live... and very nurturing for the soul. This brought all that back... thanks!!

There is a need in most of us, regardless of the person you are - to rid ones self of clear emotion, anger being one of the more hurtful, we tend to wallow - a great piece of advice my darling, be well!

This was so true it was comical.... Music tends to help, too. Start thinking about my mom or foster care.... go turn on the radio or play my flute.

Ooh, good idea. Thanks for stopping by Annabelle
So this is the first thing I've read this morning (that is not my own work) and I have to say...I'm on board! Example...already this morning I gave and received unconditional love to my little dog Ralph and my huge cat Big Kring--always starts the day right. I appreciated The Kid (funny little thing, she is, says some stuff that makes me laugh out loud). I went to WalMart to buy ingredients for my world famous New England clam chowder and smiled and said hello to pretty much every damn employee in the store (granted, they started it, but I smiled right back). Then I got laid ;-) I'm sitting here with a glass of ice water, and I'm about to go kill me some roaches and ants (not the same thing as watching them crawl up the walls, but hey, it brings me joy). So. You are spot on with this one, mister. I love it to pieces...and I love that you are letting some s**t go. Good on ya, Baby ;-)
