The Child Inside

The Child Inside

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

Baby Ricochet is having one of his moments of sanity again

"
At heart I'm just a simple man
with a loving child inside
With everything I've seen and done
Somehow he stayed alive

For that much i am grateful
A child can feel life's joy
In the simplest of moments
The world as one big toy

Flirting with a lovely girl
Watching the butterflies
Intellects can mock and scoff
Cause they don't get why

Because it's stupid simple
There's nothing to ponder on
The joy of life is in the moment
and the moment is always gone

We struggle and we live in pain
We blame everyone who took part
But in the end it doesn't matter
Only you can mend your heart

A task so monumental
No grownup could survive
It's not for us to even start
It's for your child inside

Author's Note

Baby Ricochet
Every so often I have these kind of insights. If I had any sense in my head I'd do something to encourage them to grow. I gotta admit though I get the biggest charge out of the simplest things. That's got a lot to do with me maintaining my sanity.

Oh this is so very good.
Written in your usual flow and rhythm that makes whatever you write very easy to read. And simple pleasures can be the best. For whatever reason this brought to mind sitting on a bench on a sunny day and so enjoying the warmth the wooden rungs brings to my back. A simple enjoyment that I never thought to describe. Thanks BR, for a memory brought to surface.

The last stanza particularly strikes me here...beautiful :) We need to nurture that child inside to see some innocence in the world again...and indeed to remain sane xoxo

"Flirting with a lovely girl"... "Cause they don't get why" are you sure you're just not making up excuses? HAHA! kidding!

Yes! People should keep the children in them alive! Be Child-like, not childish as some saying goes! Splendid!
