A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

Yes there's swearing

"
Sitting in the parking lot
Jesus Christ it's cold
I Don't want out this truck
I must be getting old

Eying a girl in skinny jeans
Denim jacket pointy boots
admiring the girlie sway
of her beautiful caboose

When I'm out with my girl
I tone that s**t right down
She knows how I picked her up
and don't like me lookin around

Leaves are blowing wind is cutting
I'm a soft civilian man
It was cold as Medusa's tits
When I was in Afghanistan

We lived in plywood hooches
Without heat or electricity
and went on stupid long patrols
to peak our misery

I hated that f*****g deployment
It was the low point of my life
We were bored and miserable
and I had a brand new wife

The honeymoon was over
When I got that call
Ricochet report to base
I almost went AWOL

I gotta move my a*s now
and go inside that store
I gotta pick up sweetener
Life is full of stupid chores

YEP! So relatable!
Mom: Get out of the car
ME: *wrapped up like a caterpillar in a sleeping back with the radiator on and hot chocolate* nope, nope, nope
...shouldn't have done cause she attacked with ice in the shower but hey.....

But the rest was different, after the marines and everything. Everything else steps down a rank lol great job though, your poems are always enjoyable and fun! :D

Thank you Jamie
Life is full of stupid chores that often seem meaningless yet peace is under-rated and even the simple things in life can bring us some pleasure. Nicely written.

Welcome
Great write.
How to appreciate civilian life more? Run a couple inspections on yourself, your home, etc. You'll like the ho hum of civilian life pretty quick. Then go somewhere you would like to eat and stand outside for a half hour as if you were in line. Hurry up and wait.
Just kidding. I figure you are doing fine adjusting.

Ha! Thanks for stopping by sir.
Yeah...it was 37 degrees the other night and I was all shivering...me, who spent three winters in Alaska *laugh* We do get soft, don't we? I love that last line. Life really is full of stupid chores. I often try to imagine people I know, doing the mundane. Like making coffee or vacuuming the rugs or grocery shopping while I am doing those mundane things myself. Always makes me smile...so...thanks for the f*****g smile.

Ha! Welcome baby
If satisfaction isn't impossible in the first place, its definitely stupid. Lust until you die.

thant's for sure
hard to choose whether to pick up that sweetness or behave yourself and pick up the sweetener like your supposed to. life's choices, life's adversities and just life in general. somehow, you have tied it all together. nice observations and some rather frightening and sad reflections as well....awesome job, ricochet

Thank you quinfinn
This one is all over the place, from 'caboose' erhum...to Afghanistan to news almost as horrifying as fighting war itself. All this from picking up sweetener, only you could take us on this ride. Good peer into Baby.

A pleasant journey from the hardships at Afghanistan to the comfortable, mundane life back home, filled with stupid chores. :)

My fav lines:

"Leaves are blowing wind is cutting
I'm a soft civilian man
It was cold as Medusa's tits
When I was in Afghanistan" - Write on Baby!
