          Born beyond the shore
          Little harlot temptress
           The Madonna w***e

           Charming Flirty sexy
             Giggly wiggly girl
             Intoxicating Siren
            Spins you in a swirl

          She could be a Cougar
        or a teenaged little tease
        Whatever her incarnation
        Men drop to their knees

     She's passion's burning desire
       What she was born to be
       She's all you ever wanted
          in all your fantasies

    She drives you completely crazy
     With maddening doubt and lust
     She told you that she loved you
   Words you know that you can't trust

    She's a heartbreaking little hussy
     She's a two timing little w***e
   You're hopelessly in love with her
        So you go back for more

         Fidelity is impossible
        She's easily entranced
      Caught up in the moment
   of her next whirlwind romance

    With incarnations everywhere
       From Pageantry to porn
      Worshiped and exploited
       In all her different forms

        Marginalized and vilified
    Branded Hooker Harlot W***e
     She's not going anywhere
She's been down that road before

       She can be impossible
    But I'm always so forgiving
     If she wasn't in this world
    Life wouldn't be worth living

       Praise be to Aphrodite
       Goddess like no other
   She and I were meant to be
    and I will always love her

Author's Note

In the old Tales Aries (Mars) and Aphrodite were long time lovers. As archetypes both are physical, emotionally intense, sexually driven, here and now oriented types that are drawn to each other. My X wife, my X girl friend Felicia and my little fuck buddy Jade all had heavy Aphrodite traits. All three of them had a knack for driving guys crazy and in their own unique ways got to me like no other chicks I've been with could. That's why this poem has a more personal tone than Mars or Hermes did. Aphrodite represents the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows in my sordid love life.
Aphrodite as the Madonna whore is about our cultural fascination/ rejection of her. Everyone loves Marilyn Monroe as the naive sex kitten but Madonna as the Aggressive Cougar Temptress drew a lot of fire from critics. So has Miley Cyrus for coming of age as a vibrant, sexually expressive woman from the child star Hanna Montana. All three women express Aphrodite in their own unique ways. Aphrodite is always going to stir controversy when she manifests because of the cultural assumption that good girls don't act like her. What parent would ever say "I want my daughter to grow up to be Aphrodite?" A daughter like Athena or Diana parents would love and be proud of but Aphrodite? Not likely. The Goddess of love and beauty. We love her, we hate her, we want her, we exploit her, we worship her, we're terrified of her. But no matter what we do to her, she keeps coming back because in a way more than any other Goddess or God, we need her.

(she is like the international "madonna") and her last album and tour was called "Aphrodite" and i was lucky enough to have witnessed that amazing concert... and her music video called "all the lovers" i think epitomizes what a goddess of love and beauty is all about
