Mars

Mars

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

This is about an Archetype. Archetypes are patterns of behaviors based on myths. I wrote this one about Mars, Roman God of War because I channel heavy Mars energy.

"

Warrior Dancer Lover
Protector of Rome
Celebrated in Victory
The Battle field is home

Physically Expressive
For Better or for worse
Get's lost in the moment
Sometimes that's a curse

Walks with a swagger
Can intimidate anyone
Stupid high sex drive
Thinks fighting is fun

Not an intellectual
Can be Pretty dense
Get physical with him
It's going to be intense

Can be ferociously loyal
Got your back he's the best
If you're his favorite buddy
Consider yourself blessed

If you make him angry
There will be hell to pay
If he really loves you
He'll let you off okay

Fidelity's not an option
He likes to play around
Variety is life to him
Don't try to tie him down

Comfortable with violence
Can be brutal and dangerous
In his darkest manifestations
He's a terrifying Menace

Yes he can be difficult
On him you may want to pass
But need to move your furniture
He'll be there busting his a*s

Author's Note

Baby Ricochet
Everyone's psyche is a field of archetypal myth acting out in our daily lives. We are the Gods and Goddesses of yore. Trouble is we're made up of several of them. They tend to fight with each other and some of them are more trouble than they're worth. They all have positive, life giving sides to them as well as dark, destructive sides. I use the God Mars rather than the Greek Ares because the Romans painted Mars in a much better light than the Greeks did Ares.

i really like this write. it is entertaining, it is fun, it is full of piss and vinegar and typically you. always knew in my heart that if someone was your bud you would have their back at all costs and for all time. perhaps in another life you were a roman warrior...i love the mythology element in this write and the honesty and raw emotion displayed....great write

Doesn't surprise me that you'd choose the God of War, what is surprising is you made it fit into that little corner of my mind that makes sense of all this.

I absolutely love that the busts from that era are not lost on you. You seem to fully grasp that they are, simply, all of the personalities of self.

I hope ;-)

LMAO! Dude that's Hilarious! Old geezers and rice queens, HA!
This piece seems to be crying out its rawness and its strength, and its overall depth of power. And it delivers all those very well with an ease that we recognize in BR's writing style.
Yet, almost teasingly, there seems to be more to this than meets the eye. It is the masterful way BR has written this piece... keeping the structure of the poem intact; and, keeping his rhyme scheme in proper position and pace, also. Though this is something else I've come to expect in BR's unique style of very honest writing.
I admit to being a real fan. Very impressive, sir.
