The Peace Poem (Maybe God Whispers)

The Peace Poem (Maybe God Whispers)

A Poem by Baby Ricochet

The true Christmas miracle
Is to inhale peace with every breath
And exhale love for everything we see
Maybe we're not all so clever
Maybe we missed God's presence
in a stranger's glowing smile
Or in a child's laughter
Or a big sloppy kissy hug from your aunt
Who's always kind of hammered by dinner
Maybe God saw all those minarets and spires and said
Yo dog I'm outa here.
Maybe he spread everywhere in little moments
of innocent love and joy we could experience him in
but we're all to busy making money and trying to get laid to notice.
Maybe God doesn't do spectacular events
Maybe he does little things
Maybe God doesn't yell
Maybe god whispers

Thank you Steven
This is a different side of you I haven't seen yet. It's the spirit of Christmas personified, you did it so well. Exquisite Baby.

Thank you
This poem flows with a soft easy rhythm. The content is superb.
A well conceived concept.
(If I had written this and was told I couldn't possibly do any better, I would be satisfied.)
You have great moments, BR. This is one of your finest.

I like the change in your train of thoughts. Very different from your usual writing. But equally nice. Thank you for sharing.

Every once in a while I have moments of true spiritual clarity and their beauty is their simplicity... read more

Thank you corset
I especially liked the repetition of 'maybe god' towards the end, it brought rhythmic balance to the poem. And poses a question. I think each person holds a little god inside them worth noticing so that my eyes are never lost in the sky. I think you're right, though...we live too much in a world of consumerism, consumed by things that don't matter, kept subdued by a catastrophe of distractions, while the things that matter deeply go unnoticed
