The Peace Poem (Maybe God Whispers)

The Peace Poem (Maybe God Whispers)

A Poem by Baby Ricochet

The true Christmas miracle
Is to inhale peace with every breath
And exhale love for everything we see
Maybe we're not all so clever
Maybe we missed God's presence
in a stranger's glowing smile
Or in a child's laughter
Or a big sloppy kissy hug from your aunt
Who's always kind of hammered by dinner
Maybe God saw all those minarets and spires and said
Yo dog I'm outa here.
Maybe he spread everywhere in little moments
of innocent love and joy we could experience him in
but we're all to busy making money and trying to get laid to notice.
Maybe God doesn't do spectacular events
Maybe he does little things
Maybe God doesn't yell
Maybe god whispers

I really liked this one. It makes you think, and feel like an a*s for not enjoying those little moments so many of us depend on.

I like the parallel between minarets and spires. They do look like spears. I think if God exists, he does so in ways that people can't comprehend, or express in religious texts. Saying "he whispers" is a good way of putting it.

Ciao,

He is everywhere, in all things, in all forms. I've tried to put a subject as grand as Him into a poem, but it always turns into a mess. Thank you for sharing the wise words that so many others cannot form.

Arrivederci!

No problem
Even if He did yell, I wager there are some too self-absorbed and materialistic to hear...I thought this was a very moving piece; a little introspection going on here, which is always required for growth, so you've given even the staunchest agnostic something to chew on. I'm not a great believer in organized religion, which is why my faith has waned, but I have always felt there is a power greater than myself in the works...I think you've articulated some of that with this work, and I am so happy you've shared it with us.

I love this poem! It feels like you were branching out with this one, but still sticking to your own style that makes reading your writings so entertaining.

You have given us all great thoughts to ponder in our own lives. I believe He whispers to us all.
Well penned, Baby.
