we use,we need, we exploit, we judge, we condemn, we call child services, we fight with the va over piddly crap.we f**k dumb girls that dont know any better.we smoke rock with 19 year old badgirls. but we dont love. love is stupid simple .a 4 year old does it better than most grown ups can. its like a barrel full of rain in the desert.its a shop full of pastry on christmas. its giving a buck to the crazy drunk.,its caring about people youve never met. its love.for f**k sake, lets do it
I have had a thousand people ask me why I left the life I had to move to Mexico. You have given a large part of the answer. At some point we come to the realization that we will never change anything, so we can only charge ourselves and live as best we can.
The love I have for my daughter, and she for me and her father, is monumental and infinite...no question it is unconditional and nothing on this earth will sever that bond. Love in the romantic sense is far more complicated and nobody's business, really, except the people involved. Love thy neighbor is, as you say, stupid simple, and yet that's where we stub our toes the hardest. If we could get to the point where we don't just SAY "Do unto others..." but actually PRACTICE it, we'd all be far better off. Is it generational? I don't know...I know some pretty intolerant people who lived through the "Greatest Generation", and I know some people my own age and younger who believe in full equality...it all comes down to respect, I think. That's the real question. What ever happened to the respect? Love is relative, it could mean anything to anyone...respect is concrete. Either you have it, or you don't. Either you deserve it, or you don't. Thanks so much for this thought-provoking write, Baby.

I'm about as macho as they come and my best civilian friend is gay. The greatest generation didn't have that kind of tolerance level. I'm not so sure the hippies did either.. If you didn't fit into their little click they were a*s holes. Least the ones I came across were.

Unfortunately, they would have seen you as the enemy...one of the main reasons hippies, in my book, are irrelevant. Unless they made awesome f*****g music, then they were at least useful. Thanks again, Baby, for stimulating my brain today. Always appreciated. And p.s. good on ya for the BCF...he's lucky to have such a good friend.
The world is fucked up right now and some love would definitely help. I don't know if it's a generation issue or a cultural issue though, either way we have lost our values and that's why love is viewed as "simple".
I think children love thoroughly and unconditionally because they are blind to so many things. The world is not a safe, peaceful place, but sometimes their world is and they have nothing to stop them from loving like that.
I like this! I like how bits of your life were mixed in. Nice, Baby
You kind of left me speechless with this one, so true, I think we've been lambasted for our beliefs and expectations to find a deeper meaning to love and life. Not easy in today's society with all the cynicism and expectations of a better world. Thoughtful provoking read, kudos Baby.
