GOP 2012 BLUES

GOP 2012 BLUES

A Poem by Baby Ricochet

     The race is finally over

   The campaign's last reserve

  The democrats were rewarded

        The GOP got served

    They had a fighting chance

    Obama disappointed many

   Change that never happened

     Voters were getting angry

What was the GOP'S big mistake

Why did they finish so behind

Who did they pick for president

The whitest whitey they could find

    Ignored latinos gays and blacks

Stalled when they should have run

Threatened to set back women's rights

         to eighteen sixty one

     Slung mud in every direction

Said Obama was a socialist stooge

   The democrats were communists

and there was a gay deludge

And that crack about the 47

          burning in voters ears

      Amounted to a conformation

       of the GOP'S elitist sneers

Pundits said the race was tight

But it went the way it had to end

     The democrats had an advantage

        the GOP couldn't comprehend

        The voters cast their ballots

and sent the GOP off to scurry

         cause they ran a dinosaur

             in the 21st century

I know it's a little sloppy. I'm in a hurry to go out and taste the rich smooth goodness of Obama country

Love this one. GOP definitely needs to change its tune. But as much as you might call the rhyming sloppy, I think it works for the tone of the piece. I read it with a bit of sarcasm and wit in it, and I think the somewhat silly rhyming bolsters that. Keep up the good work.

thank you will
Very funny stuff! Some of the rhyming was a little jumpy, but who cares? You could always come back and polish it up. This was a stroke of mastery, loved the wit and humor and truth. Nice to see someone else who tells it like it is or how they see it.

so true...even after he lost he blamed "all of the gifts" Obama promised to minority's... i wanna know where is my gift??? lol... and he never mentioned all of the gifts he would have given to the rich (tax cuts)

the GOP is in definite need of an upgrade

...this was hilarious lol

Thank you for reviewing GOP 2012 blues Serenus
By the time a person gets enough influence and money to run as a main line candidate they have a different agenda than the common citizen. I don't know what the answer to this campaign overindulgence is, but I wish we could come up with a system that would allow people to run without having to sell their souls for a chance...I'm a dreamer, I know, I know...

Oh, yes, I apologize, I got off in the thoughts your poem stirred up in me and forgot to say "Well, done and thought provoking!"

So right you are! I think they selected the candidate that had the least to lose. Of course, in white, protestant America, a Mormon would have a hard go of it. On the other hand, if I was ever into wife swapping, I'd go with a Mormon for one of those two-for-one deals.

Thank you for reviewing GOP blues Refined poet
now it is time for them to work together...i have been so disillusioned with it all...but finally i am hearing signs they may put their partisanship aside and try to work with him--and he with them too..

it's time to remember us..the country..that is what they are elected to do...not fight among themselves and accomplish nothing.

and as for what others said here...bravo on the 'no more ads"

for once i would like an ad that told me what the candidate will do if elected rather than just bashing the other person in slam ads.

this poem is sooooooo well done...

very clever in its rhyme and word scheme.
