Memories

Memories

A Poem by Baby Ricochet

There must be something I can do tonight

The air is heavy as I drink and Breathe

                              Memories crawl

                  Like snakes through my bones

                                   Moving

                                 On my own

Singing minarets echo in some gapping dreary distance

Sand choking life out of my lungs and stinging face

Closing rotors thump across a bombed out terror landscape

Diesel engines moaning with a reassuring grace

There must be somewhere I can go tonight

My heart is breaking with the burden of you

What desert fires had frozen dead still

                                  I lost my will

Hardened memories seeping through my splitting bleeding skin

Distant smiles and promises that never came to stay

I weep into my broken hands with a hard resistance

For the hallowed memories that turned my ashes grey

it feels like this is one of those poems that just has to come out...like you can't take another breath until you put it on paper because the words are so powerful and profound. I can see the emotions in this one... makes me want to reach out my hand and say.. I understand my friend. Very powerful and profound.

This is heart achingly beautiful...profoundly written, the memories displayed in a landscape of harshness...adds so much to the intensity, wonderfully thought out love xox

New style, I presume. Well, I fail to even begin of where to start babbling of how amazed I am at this. Such hollowing loneliness is echoed throughout this poem, and coupled with that is the presence of ghosts stalking behind the closed curtains of your mind. Determination is sensed through all words of this poem, but in a way where you've far too much that your will is being drained away slowly. And I mean that in every best way.

So sad isnt it.The loneliness of a soldier the home so far away.I dont care who you you will at times like these feel the call for home and wonder am i ever going to get back to the ones i love.Fear is a hard task master.Even with discipline a man will think minutes are hours and time must have stood still.

Another excellent write.
I have come to expect a very high quality from you.

Still hearing and feeling it? Just surround yourself with the reality that is around you and is present and real, my friend.

I liked the first format better. Why did you center it? I am just wondering about the centering, but the fixing of the landscape typo makes me happy.

And, really amazing job. I love it.

In the second line I think you mean breathe. Because you are drinking and breathing, not drinking and then taking a breath.

This:
" Memories crawl
Like snakes through my bones
Moving
On my own" - is f*****g amazing!

"landscaoe"- typo- landscape
"turned mt ashes grey" typo- my.

By far, by favorite poem of yours. This was very real and raw sounding. The words were distinct. They painted images with feelings to accompany them. Wonderful job, Baby. Especially with that first stanza.
