This is unlike anything I've ever read by you, and I have to say I'm impressed that you branched out on the topic of real, gut-wrenching inner darkness. You've probably taken on this topic before, but in a more humorous way, but this is dark, deep, and serious and its very nicely done.

I have in earlier works with anger as the overriding emotion. Thank you for reviewing days Rachel.
definitely a different one from you. for me it wasn't as hard hitting as your other stuff and for the style you wrote in, it was perfect. really refreshing to see this kinda stuff from you. well done man. good write.

It a different tac. Thank you for reviewing Days PhilGod
It's a longing to be understood, but at what cost. Sitting on a stock pile of horrific memories, hoarding them, keeping them close, never sharing...in the end you have to wonder: why did I need to be so selfish with my pain? It's an enormous inner struggle. The desire for empathy often retreats in the face of the pride of strength. After our boat exploded, and our 4 month old baby nearly drowned, when I visited her father in the burn unit, I never told him I woke up screaming every night...pride of strength...but now, eight years later, with each telling of that dreadful story, I leave a little of that pain back in Lake Union and I allow myself to accept the fact she is okay, he is okay, and I am...relatively okay. I'm not for one second suggesting our experiences are comparable, merely offering you some empathy, as we all have a stock pile of horrific memories...and letting you know: it's okay to shed a little light into that darkness.
Beautifully written poem. Thank you for posting it.

I write just for the hell of it
A way to spend some time
Blurting out in cyber space

Maybe funny maybe tragic
Emotional and raw
