War KidsA Poem by Baby RicochetDedicated to the Kids In Iraq and Afghanistan who's suffering got to us like nothing else could. We saw them on the streets we saw them on the stairs Playing in the heat we saw them everywhere. Running jumping laughing crying War kids in the land of the dying.
We gave them candy and MRE'S Then blew their houses to smithereens It must have been weird for them to see strange men with presents being so mean.
What did they think and what did they say When we took the men of the house away. Bind daddy's hands and force him to the floor. Beat him with a rifle and drag him out the door.
What got to me in the worst of ways We were stealing their childhood away. The war kids could make a mean marine cry Victims of violence they never knew why.
With everything I've lived to regret. The war kids I just can't forget. See their faces in my dreams Hear their crys hear their screams.
They got to me in the worst of ways The war kids will never go away Not for me or anyone that knew The hell America put them through © 2012 Baby RicochetAuthor's Note
