Raindrops on Your Cheek

Raindrops on Your Cheek

A Poem by Phillitup

As your sad eyes turn back to me,
and the rain drenches you to the bone.
I desperately want to hold you in my arms,
comfort and protect you from the things I said.
More than the fact that I hurt you,
I sting because...
I can't tell if there are tears,
or raindrops on your cheek.

This is partially true and partially made up. This is for my same friend. I hate seeing my friend sad, it hurts so badly. I feel like I'm to blame most of the times, as if I've done something to make my friend feel this way. The worst part is I can't tell how they really feel because they can hide it. "I can't tell if there are tears, or raindrops on your cheek."

It is hard knowing your friends or loved ones are hurting and not knowing what to do, especially if they hide it away so well. I think everyone at times has a hard way facing what they really feel, at times I wonder if we know how exactly we feel. Feelings and emotions can be so confusing at times haha

Wow. There are so many nuances of pain and this poem expresses many. Especially the last three lines: the pain of not knowing if it mattered at all. at least that's how I interpret it. I love this!

I used to go for walks in the rain just so I could cry out my heart and never feel the tears... I get this poem in my bones Dell. You found a real connection to nature here.
