Dreaming: My loose journey with the four Stages

Dreaming: My loose journey with the four Stages

A Story by Phillitup

Dreams. Many believe they know of odd dreams or things that don't make sense. I am writing this to not only prove them wrong but to also discuss my fascination with my odd dreaming patterns. We will start at the beginning of the list of dreams I vividly remember. Before kindergarten all of my dreams were in black and white and well as the fact that many(although not all) were merely snapshots instead of real dreams that move. My first in color dream was, in fact, a snapshot that surprised me, and made me wonder just a bit. It was interesting to me that while my family sat around the breakfast every morning and shared the contents of every dream we remembered from that night the others (even my twin) described vivid, colorful, and intense dreams while I only painted a dark picture of my dream which stood still and never came across as creative.

Since then most all of my dreams have been in color, as well as moving. The next strange thing about my dreams was the fact that I never had them from my perspective. I was always watching myself. Again, while I heard my twin comment on how much her leg hurt in the dream she had most recently remembered, I thought about the peace while still being frightening, that filled my mysterious dream world. It was only in my worst nightmares that I ever was myself.

Furthermore, when I was in my own perspective in dreams the dreams were almost always real-like. I would wake up surprised that there wasn't someone chasing me or kidnapping my older brother. The only non-nightmare realistic dream I have had in awhile or ever, in fact, was that I had a toddler brother named Cody, who, I was scared when I did not see upon waking. My most realistic nightmare I have ever had was when Maleficent (from Disney's Sleeping Beauty) was chasing me. An alarm went off and I got freaked out. The alarm was my alarm clock however my twin sister had to shake me awake because of:
A) How deep into the REM dreaming stage I was.
B) How the alarm clock was incorporated into my nightmare instead of waking me up.

So, as you can see, dreams have been rather odd for me. Ask me any question and I will answer it. Even my weirdest dream and I will say.
