Extra extra extraA Poem by VivianExtra thoughts free verse version. I thought about what I wanted to eat throughout the day. A word salad was what I ate. After I ate my salad I headed to burger king. I entered and then looked at the menu before looking for the
guy working as a cashier. He loves me when I’m happy. He leaves when I’m sad. He comes back when I’m gone. I ask why he stays and then he disappears. Extra limited time… His hair as vanilla as he is spiced. Extra hot vanilla coffee… He is mysterious in a whimsical way. Extra whimsical… His eyes are extra today. The soda cup as clear as his eyes. One extra clear cup… His withdrawn attitude toward life. Extra withdrawn… The past still bothers us. Though we have moved on. Or have we? Extra nostalgic of the past. We’ve both gone mad had we? Extra delusional. There is uncertainty in the now and disbelief in the past. Extra risky. But we think of each other. Extra limited time... Extra whimsical... Extra clear... Extra delusional... Extra extra… I look at the counter and I watch his plain expression. “Do you have anything else you’d like to add to your order? A whopper with Extra Extra extra! Pickles… © 2025 VivianAuthor's Note
