sun moon me you

sun moon me you

A Poem by dele

I remember when we used to look at the full moon together, sat by your window, the dark night giving way to dark blue, and then to a bright perfect circle. And how the lonely moon made us feel grateful for each other. Who knew that in time, we would come to mimic these celestial bodies, one becoming the moon, and the other the sun. two opposites, grown apart, further and further until one could never confuse the two. Always in reach of one another, but always.just.missing each other. Maybe in their final forms, they compliment each other. And the initial change of difference has grown to become a complimentary one. What kills it is we’ll never know. The stubborn sun will not acquiesce to the moon, and the proud moon will not concede to the sun. Even.knowing.that they could take it in turns to bring brightness to their counterpart, when the other is to tired to glow. So maybe they deserve their lonely fates, a sentence for the stubborn, a punishment for pride.
and I see it now, and wonder if you can see it too.
From where you are.
