resignation

resignation

A Poem by dele

my resignation sleepwalking into an alienation
participation required nor desired. see,
that's why they work me ragged, with corporate nine to fives,
so i'm too damn tired, to dare to govern my own life.

i vote for the few to speak for the many.
i get all my opinions from what i see on the telly.
i haven't got time to think for myself,
i think what you want me to.
and so does everybody else.

so
the news looks like truth
i'll eat what you feed me,
cos somewhere inside me,
i crave truth to free me
but lately lies grate me and im moved to hit mute,
your food doesn not endure.
like badu said it, your news edit…is making me ill.

i vote for the few to speak for the many.
i get all my opinions from what i see on the telly.
i haven't got time to think for myself,
i think what you want me to.
and so does everybody else.

preoccupy us to death with the negligence of madeleine,
now i forget bout darfur iraq and bogey osama bin,
laden with propaganda cos the confused don't speak, act or smile,
and despite ballot rights,
i've not spoke in a while.

i vote for the few to speak for the many.
i get all my opinions from what i see on the telly.
i haven't got time to think for myself,
i think what you want me to
and so does everybody else.

after i've marched
and i've sat
and said 'not in our name',
i'll wake up tomorrow
and carry on jus the same.
