HAVING                 HOUSE,

crawled closely to the wall, closely to the building, closely to the side of the

STRETCHING                      WHY

yet squeamish, questioning one’s own fear of heights with every step, wondering

IT                                      TENSION         

was that this climb got started in the first place, with the knees getting a bit weak,

BUILDING,                          EASY

remembering the staircases in high school that went up three floors & yet were so

TO          OR

fall right over the side, crashing down without catching balance, twisting an ankle

BREAKING                  WHETHER

an arm---in fact, there was this kid a little older than i who took a dare regarding

OR                                                 ON

not he could jump seven step & when he tried to complete it successfully he tripped

THE                                            SINCE

way down, he snapped his forearm so bad that the bone stuck out bloodied & flowing,

HE’D        FALL

gone into complete shock, he continued down the hallway after getting up from his

&                THE

after walking into his math class, he sat down---needless to say, when the teacher saw

DAMAGE                                        OUT

that had been done to the boy’s arm when he jumped, she took his good arm & dashed

OF                                                REALLY

the room to the nurse’s office---funny how these things pop up in one’s head when they

AREN’T                                                               STEP LADDER.

that high off the ground---best to try & clear the head when climbing up a rickety
