Word Salad (1998): Phillips & Healy

if you have something to say; say it.  do not wait for the appropriate time.  it will never come.  do not wait for the people around you to be ready for you to do so---because (news flash) they never will be.  if you have something that you want to do; do it.  as with saying what you want to, when you want to, if you wait for those around you (family, friends, coworkers, etc.) to be ready for when you want to do what it is that you really want to do, they never will be.  think about this for a second: the final data for the 2007 census revealed the average life expectancy to be 77.9 years in the united states---ranking 28th on the list of high income countries.  women live up to five years longer on average.  understand that these stats only represent white people in the population who tend to live longer as a whole (difference of income (class) is not accounted for in the broad stroke number) once you throw in differing factors of race and ethnicity (class still & always being a factor), the stats only plummet---dropping at least 7 years for men & 6 for women.  in this here 2011, your top ten ways of dying (globally, not just the us) are as follows:

numero uno:  heart disease!

numero deux: the big C!

numero drei: respiratory infections!

numero fire: lung disease!

numero خمسة: HIV:AIDS!

numero : digestive diseases!

numero seacht: diarrhoeal diseases!

numero åtta: tuberculosis!

numero nine: malaria!

numero dix: traffic accidents!

american-centric breakdown = 36% sudden cardiac arrest

                                                  18% stroke

                                                  16% lung cancer

                                                    9% breast cancer

                                                    8% traffic accidents

                                                    7% homicide

                                                    5% AIDS

so what is the moral of the story?  the stats don’t lie.  most of us will live around ¾ of a century, give or take some years based on many factors---so what are you going to do with it?  how long are you going to live how other people want you to live?  how long are you going to do what you are told to do, instead of what you want to do, or for that matter, what you feel it is that you need to do for yourself?  believe it or not, this simply reality will be contested by idiots & authoritarian forces which will demand that you stay right in the place that has been decided for you.  yes, be a good dog and stay right there, chained to the ground.  stay right there until you die.

the question is, will you?  the clock is ticking.
