overcast

overcast

A Poem by delapruch
"

na.

"

flood over me

cooling October clouds,

that bring with them

the death of insects,

the running inside of

all the bikini bearing

wretches, the ceasing

of the smell of barbecues

& beer bellies,

the retreating faces of messy

children playing in the

sand, the fizzling fireworks

announcing the

“independence” of

one slave nation born

out of an empire in order

to become worst than its

momma could ever

have been (who did its

best to be much larger

than its Roman father),

the silencing of outdoor

festivals breeding crap bands for

quick cash, the chilling of

the sweltering heat that

makes men who can

grow hair sweat (ahem),

the pulling up of those

tops that were down, the

taking of the bikes back

into the garage (Harley

f***s that’d been rumbling

all Summer thinkin’ they’re

still 20), an end to the

litany of parades that announce

to world redundancy louder than

the year before, an end to the

excuses for wars that start

or escalate come July, an end

to the f*****g hypocrite

factory in Washington getting

August off to circle

jerk themselves to sleep,

an end to the yapping &

screeching dogs once outside

that need to be kept inside now (kept

from the coming freeze),

an end to the s****y iced tea

that finally gets taken off

the windowsill, an end to

the suntan lotion (getting put

back up on the shelf), an end

to the lemonade stands

(got ta find a new way to

profit) & a major decrease in

spandex laden early morning

runners trying to shed all

those pounds just to gain

it all back come the

“holidays.”
