postlude from a kiss

postlude from a kiss

A Poem by delapruch
"

na.

"

and the who, what, where, when

& why seem ever so important

when an act so terrible afflicts the

many & sends the public panicking

with eyes peeled & stuck to the

screens of a media feasting like

vultures in the desert just come

upon a wildebeest carcass left by

the lions---

watch the bloody toothed birds spit

out sinew & proclaim the

fabricated stories quickly developed

as to the motives of one wo/man or

the many, responsible for the

“atrocious,” as if no human before

ever thought about it, as if no human

after will ever go about it again.

could have been one simple thing

that sent the dominoes falling---a

messed up morning hairdo that

spun a poor mirror imaged reflection

on just the wrong day, the way the wind

blew in the afternoon (forcing the

coffee from the overfilled styrofoam

container to spill out off the plastic top

edge), a smug closing of the door on

someone behind you in a café, the

impolite ramblings of a cashier whose

been doing their job just wayyyyy

tooooo loooonnnggg, the gas cap that

wouldn’t stay tight after filling up the

car, the milk that went sour overnight

so there’s none for the cereal in the

morning & of course, that kiss that

didn’t lead just exactly where “it

was supposed to.”
