Comet

Comet

A Poem by John The Revelator

I fall into the sun
Everything I’ve done
Trails a million miles behind me
The bright light is one
A reflection of the power that pulls me

I’m screaming home
Across a future veiled in darkness
My only purpose
Is to yield to gravity
My only choice is how and why I burn

A soul is only presence and memory
A promise and spent potential

I come around and out into the void
I’ll find friends
But I’ll keep only memories
The stars come a little closer
Before momentum takes me back
And the pulse stops at perigee
Just before I fall on home
