Artemis

Artemis

A Poem by John The Revelator

Tigers and zebras both dream of changing stripes
Of dusk and tall grasses
The wolf and the deer are fearful and thrilled
By the hunt and the strike
Standing stark on winter snow
The moth and the candle’s flame
Are equally filled by desire
Though for wholly different reasons

Do not come unto a hunter
And speak softly of needs
These pleas will be ignored
Rolled over and plowed under

Slowly and boldly instead
Reveal the secret
Of what it is you want
And seek
And will take.
