Further Driving (working title)A Poem by definitelyjimIncomplete poem on a visit to a house abandoned in a woods.
I walk farther on,
Past buzzing bees, chirping crickets Everywhere I saw rolling hills with wild Flowers whose every shade of yellow, Orange red, purple-violet Cornflower blue--- Fragrances carried on warmlazy breeze Brings lilac, wild rose familiarity of Another time as that brooke speaks Her bubbly mind, imploring me Walk on! Up the hill To the house I once knew--- But when? And it calls to me In all of its neglected Hideousness To come inside -- but I can see Through weathered siding what I'm likely to Find inside. And walking through The doorless front, the shattered remains Of ghost-ship home Greets me A littered gray welcome From Long ago vandals.
