petalsA Poem by Deepwood's Harton a rampage
I will shatter petals as I walk.
Sleepless fields Red and wire strung, dripping in dew Pearlescent resin. My thoughts will drift away like the storm clouds Cumulonimbus, heavy, tensely mute. Only just tinged with egret white. Beneath my toes are the shattered slivers, Petals crushed and bruised. From the tips of my fingers, The ends of my lashes Will drip dreams. I will gather these for you in a wooden bowl Mix them with honey, with vinegar, With salt from the ocean. Offer up the fragrance to heaven, Offer up the fragrance to the sun who is not seen To the moon who is unseen To the stars unseeable. The evaporate liquid I will pour into the hollows of your eyes The hollows of your hands The hollows of your feet. I will anoint your forehead with the draught of eternal peace. From your inner eyes, the bundle of living flesh and nerves Will spring poppies that we will crush, dancing Beneath our shattering feet. © 2010 Deepwood's HartReviews
