On a Starry Night

Gazing out at the starry night

I remember all those times

I look at the sky

Amazed at the amount of stars there are.

Alas, now, there are too few stars,

More artificial lights and masses of people.

But the starry sky still holds an important symbol,

At least for me.

It shows me hope.

Even when the light fades, even when the mass fades out,

I know all I have to do is look up,

On a starry night

And see what stares out at me 

With startling clarity;

Hope
