Belief

Just a belief I believe in.

Don’t hate me for what I am
Hate me for who I am,
For what I am is not the same as who I am
And I may be different than what I represent.

Don’t hate me for what I say
Hate me for what I meant to say but didn’t,
For what I say is not the same as I meant to say but didn't.

Believe in what I am,
Who I am,
And what I represent.
Not what I just say.

Author's Note

This is an old poem I found in my computer I'd saved long back. Note: I did not edit it. That's the beauty of the poem, I feel it's good as it is. What do you think?

I like the message behind this. Er, what it says. It's clear and to the point and has a certain charm that I think is most endearing.
And I'm glad you didn't edit it. I think that poems need to keep the raw emotions that it had when it was created. Right?
