The Note

The Note

A Poem by deepshade

The note you gave me set me crying.
Remembering how I held you.
Remembering that I love you
even for the pain you continue to give me.
The note you sent me feels like a stake in my heart being twisted back and forth.
I cry silently inside as the bleeding continues,
Wearing a fake smile to fool you all.
The note is crushed but still calls out like an angry vulture.
The pain brought on by the note won’t stop like my bleeding wrist
Finally…darkness comes and I cry more.
Finally the pain in my chest slows…slows then stops.
The note slips from my hand.
Blood drips on my response, a piece of paper below
With a simple message of five words: “I’m sorry. It’s my fault.”
