Dont ForgetA Story by deepshadeS.C. 10/15/3566 Nights blend together in endless dark as my days slip by with unnoticed speed. the sun beats down on my battered body before wind and chill freeze me to the core. Once lost in the Naught Valley you don't come back. if your found...its the remains of animal stomachs or bleached and gnawed bones. Looking up the stars glitter so high that if only i could reach out and touch them could i be saved. Everyone was offered a second chance in space, too bad i already used up my second chance. Just twenty-five days ago i was given my second chance...just twenty-five days...
S.C. 09/20/3566 Gray walls flowed in either direction every ten feet cell doors held back the excrement of society from the world. It was my release date and with every step my breath came easier, my steps a little lighter. Looking at the locked check point ahead a smirk spread along my face mixing with my wild eyes the others who were hanging on their doors backed quickly away stifling gasps of exclamation, falling over one another in an attempt to escape from me. for in my sight was nothing but freedom and nothing was going to stop me from what i desired.
Once through the first door it was locked behind me. the guards waited there only for the reason that a second set of guards watched me from the next door. Rifles in hand they shook ever so slightly. Slowly i removed my smirk as the scanning was complete. Once through i hurried towards the front desk. i wanted my personnel items taken from me.
Sitting at the desk was a young female officer. her red hair distracted from her face, a very smooth and homely look to her belied the underlying ferocity in her eyes, the unspoken ill-contempt for a devious and dangerous criminal such as i. © 2011 deepshade |
