My Tired Eyes

My Tired Eyes

A Poem by deepoet

My tired eyes

My tired eyes have lost their innocence

My tired eyes have grieved more times intense

My tired eyes won't let me sleep, restfully

for all I have seen burns way down deep

like a fiery field of Lilies once beautiful now singed

my tired eyes have seen truths while lies forced to be told, infringed

cowardice natures unfold time and time and time and time again

my tired eyes have now become my best friend

my tired eyes have become my best defense

for they see clearer now then way back when

my innocence was blinding my paths I stood in the line of fire

left me wide open for spears and evil doers tasks desire

now these tired eyes see right through you

though watery, blood shot and weary

and no, I will not accuse you or expose you clearly

for I know the truth will never surface that way

in time fate will surely have its way on display

My tired eyes lovingly embrace your lies

my tired eyes still see your disguise

my tired eyes understands completely why

you may choose to live on the darker side

Life has left us all a gift

my tired eyes have made me more swift

although my tired eyes won't let me rest at night

haunted by painful memories and stresses of life

My tired eyes see right into your soul

like it or not, it's what God had sold out to my soul

nightly I pray for wisdom and reverent perception

My gift for my tired eyes have been to see clearly, conception

and I see without prejudiced, for life should be sweeter for us all

and though you may try to cut me down and make my spirit fall

My tired eyes forgive those who are blinded by their ignorant hindrance.

My tired eyes help me forgive those who have hurt me upon deliverance

for their lives have forsaken them and blinded them by turmoil

At times, my tired eyes get too weary to forgive their cruel intentions towards me, and my tired eyes cry for just a moment, fall deep

but then my tired eyes awaken my spirit with more understanding, compassion and empathetic progression.

My tired eyes need to let me sleep, not eternally but just until tomorrow.

Wow. With that font and color and everything, my eyes are extremely tired after reading that. Maybe I need to invest in a better monitor. Or a black and white monitor.

My tired eyes won't let me sleep, too. I know that feeling.
