To Speak of Nicole

To Speak of Nicole

A Poem by Brandon Gene Petit

Never to be purged from my imagination’s lonely ‘scape
Inimical to hearts of men that grovel in her shadow’s drape
Corruption she has tasted but she won’t fall far from innocence
Out of sorrow’s ashes births the phoenix in magnificence
Living in my memory, she plays her silk symbolic part
Eleven steps ahead of me, she’s stronger than the broken heart

Saint-like is the power that she uses to outlive desire
Craving drives a man to madness, never ceases to inspire
Heaven can’t describe the longing driven by her lingering vision
Underneath her fragrant smile, the opulence of indecision
Leaning toward her scented aura, redolence for which I yearn
The bloodline of her memory will lead me down where candles burn
Zealous for her perfect poison evident within her lair

….I resurrect a bond in blood reflected in her crimson hair
