Everything

Everything

A Poem by Declan Cooney
"

Poem from 01-08

"
Every memory of you
Has stained me like red wine
Possible to remove
Simple to find
You said you're done with the crying
So darling, don't shed a tear
I'm here as your lover,
Family, foe and fear.

Every memory of you
My mind has set in stone
Possible to move
Simple to own
You said you loved me once
But I am not who I was
So darling, forgive me,
I was so foolish in love.

Every memory of you
Violates my thoughts
Possible to forget
Simple to not
You said it'd be forever
And now, you say its gone
So darling, be happy
And know, you weren't wrong.

Every memory of you
Teases my solitude
Possible to retune
Simple to assume
You said that you missed me
One summer afternoon
So darling, take comfort
Because I miss you too.

Every memory of you
Seems worthless
Possibly not
Simply so
You said you can't keep promises
So darling, it seems so long
Since you left me alone.
