Rescued

Rescued

A Poem by Declan Cooney
"

bleh...

"
Smile for me
allow me to baske in your beauty
Anything you ask of me
is my constant task and loyal duty
I guess its blasphemy
to lose faith in what we believe
And, yes it tested me
when you so delicately asked me to leave...

When all I wanted was love...
With all I needed to see...
When all I had was my blood...
You rescued me.

Its been awhile for me
since I had new lips, to kiss
And while I smile
the child in me, it ceases to exist
But my guess
ain't the best
And it...distresses me.

Wish I had someone to rescue me...

When all I needed was love...
With all I wanted to see...
When all I had was my blood...
You rescued me.

So then what's a guy to do?
When he can no longer say, "I love you"
Couldn't even say goodbye
Didn't have it in me to try
My eyes are dry, but
My heart can't help but cry...

...I never wanna get rescued.
