The Harbinger

This is a foreshadow
Behold the coming of
An emotional apocalypse
Sent down from above
The precursor to problems
That have yet to unfold
My warning of extinction
Has been repeatedly told
Like your execution of loyalty
The damage dealt to trust
Your honor used to outdo royalty
Now you faith has turned to dust
But this caution is a must
For all whom can’t see
I am The Harbinger of destruction
Taker of Earth and Sea
The abyss which swallowed Rome
Will take this animosity
This profane humanity
Who has unlocked my insanity
With the forethought of vanity
Influencing my profanity
I am the cause of this calamity
You’ve drowned in the sea of my hate
Now you’re breathless and afloat
Yet pinned down by the stakes
That stretch straight to the ground
And if you heart starts to pound
They start pullin you down.
And I’m hoping you drown
At least three or four times
So I can use that imagery repeatedly
Throughout my versed rhymes

I am the Harbinger
I am the bringer of death
I am the wicked
And I don’t know rest
I am the Harbinger
Neither God nor man
But if you look to your past
You’ll know who I am

Raising the price of life
Won’t get you very far
My anger can’t be persuaded
By money or cars
My hate can’t be subdued
With the mere thought of love
My heart has been broken
I can’t say it enough
If I could open my chest
To give you my heart
You could see the gashes
That have torn it apart
I would hand you that part of me
That’s been stabbed more than you
More than the confederate soldiers
Were stabbed by yanks in blue
My sin has been retuned
Into a new deadly crew
Without wrath or envy
Lust or sloth too
I’ve been born anew
With a sight to redo our home
But it requires oceans of blood
Along with forbidden tomes
And once we’re all alone
We can begin the new start
You with a soul
And me with a heart.

I am the Harbinger
I am the bringer of death
I am the wicked
And I don’t know rest
I am the Harbinger
Neither God nor man
But if you look to your past
You’ll know who I am

Without peace
Hatred would never evolve
Without the last piece
My puzzle will never be solved
My love has dissolved
Into a puddle of hate
Yet I am the only one
Who knows the pain in this state
Yet I’m raising the stakes
Took the gambler’s advice
Took him by his skull
And ripped his life out of sight
I hate what I’m like
But I love it all the same
Its insanity that keeps me
From obliterating my brains
And claim that release
From life unto death
But I’d just stand back up
And put my sword through your chest
The wicked don’t know rest
Just respect and the fight
And when it comes to the end
You won’t see me in flight
Because I’m made up of layers
Of fire and ice
Countering chemical imbalances
Of what’s thought to be right
And with a new insight
For every science and sect
Every single word of God
I seem to reject
And with a new respect
I’m bringing the flame
Laced with artic glaciers
Falling at the call of my name

I am the Harbinger
I am the bringer of death
I am the wicked
And I don’t know rest
I am the Harbinger
Neither God nor man
But if you look to your past
You’ll know who I am

The wicked don't know rest

Because I'm made up of layers
Of fire and ice
Countering chemical imbalances
Of what's thought to be right

I like the thought behind this powerful write~ especially so many layers
of emotions in the fire and ice concept which leads in many directions
a lot of energy flowing thru~ out this entire poetic verse~ very well crafted indeed!

Thanks for sharing in the Fire and Ice Contest~FM

Have to say I like it, even just skimming it so far. Appeals to my Ninebreaker, and a little of what I've gone through. The most comical rhyme, though, has to be "More than the confederate soldiers / Were stabbed by yanks in blue."

But of recurring interest is in the chorus of: "But if you look to your past / You'll know who I am."

In a twist of the old quote from The Dark Tower series, Randall Flagg would understand.
