twenty-two

twenty-two

A Poem by D E X XIV
"

six months into adulthood and terrified

"
love is a vanity reserved for the young.

It is the unequivocal belief
that we deserve to be forever seen
the way we saw ourselves at twenty-two.

the want of love
as anything but ephemeral
is a fight against the natural entropy
that governs every aspect
of the biological world.

I can relate to this in a way because I don't really like the icky romanticized part of love, but I still get crushes and stuff. There are days where I'm honestly disliking the idea of love, but then most days I'm just thinking about the hate the world has and its lack of love. I'm a bit of a paradox that way, which is weird. Anyway, this poem is quite nice and I enjoyed the use of words you incorporated into it.
