Traveling On A Greyhound Bus

Traveling On A Greyhound Bus

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

Traveling on a greyhound bus

Round trip fare

An artist and a poet once met

Very enchanted by one another

Embraced in each other's arms

Lying her head on his shoulder

I was the poet, he the artist

Never shall I forget him, though I never caught his name

Good looking young man with long hair and hazel eyes

On top of his head he wore a French cap, tilted to the side

Nostalgic memories come back to me as I think about him

Attractive and handsome, so full of creative energy

Gentle and kind a stranger I ever did meet

Remember when he sat down beside me on the crowded bus

Expressing his apologies for bumping into me quite unexpectedly

You know we hit it off right away, we had so much in common

He loved to draw as much as I love to write, talked late into the night

Often we dined together at the rest stops along our way

Until we came to part ways in Washington D.C. at the bus station

Never shall I ever forget him or the way he hugged & kissed me good bye

Destined to meet, I wonder if he still remembers me as I remember him
