No Flower Strewn Pathways

No Flower Strewn Pathways

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

No flower strewn pathways all my life through

Orange and yellow sunsets make me so blue

Flowers they eventually wilt as I so weep

Love only comes to me in dreams when I sleep

Open not the window shades, the sun hurts my eyes

Withering away from his bittersweet lies

Evenings enchant me no more

Recalling how he left out my door

Send me no flowers

They make me cry

Remembering when he said good bye

Evening comes and the hours pass so slowly

While I toss and turn and feel so darn lonely

No flower strewn pathways all my life through

Please don't leave me, I pleaded with him not to go

As he left my heart bleeding, so on and so

The stars in my eyes they have lost their glow

Heartbroken and bluer than blue

Wondering what now will I do

Alone in my room, with the shades pulled down

You know it's so lonely, without him around

Soon I shall fall asleep and dream of love...
