If I Could Turn Back Time

If I Could Turn Back Time

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

If I could turn back time

Free myself from this broken heart of mine

I wouldn't be quite so naive

Care more about me

Out of this shell I would emerge

Umbrella of shadows no longer hovering over me

Like a cloud of depression weighing me down

Drag my way out of this rut

Take control of my life

U turn I would make no hesitation

Reach out and touch the stars

No time to waste in night clubs and taverns

Be straight forward and say what I mean, not to be so damn shy

A bar fly I would never become

Care more about me

Keep my chin up a little bit higher, when I look into your eyes

Time, if only I could turn back time, make you mine

I might not be so manic

Maybe I wouldn't panic

Each time you walk by
