No Wedding Bells Did Ring

No Wedding Bells Did Ring

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

No wedding bells did ring

On the day that they did wed

When the church bells rang it was a bit too late

Everyone thought them to be the perfect couple

Ding dong, ding dong, the bells did chime

Ding dong, ding dong, ding dong...

I will, I mean I do... she said

Now hesitate she did as she spoke her vows

Good grief, what have I done? she thought to herself

By the time the ceremony was over, it was a bit too late

Everyone thought them to be the perfect couple

Like Mutt and Jeff

Like pudding and pie

So it was once upon a wedding day

Discontent and disallusioned

I knew right from the very beginning it would come to an end

Divorce of course, between him and I

Rings that had lost their glitter and shine

I will, I mean I do... she said

Now hesitate she did as she spoke her vows

Good grief, what have I done? she thought to herself
