The Country Cabaret And JoeA Poem by Deborah Leah KrempaThere once was a night club, The Country Cabaret, & then there was Joe He was the owner & bartender of the club quite a long time ago Evenings there were filled with romance & fun
Cowboys & cowgirls danced to the tunes of bands that did play On the wknds I worked the door checking ID's, with Al the bouncer Under a crystal globe on the ballroom floor was the place to be Now & then Joe would drop the cover & allow his patrons in for free The Country Cabaret was the hotspot in town Round & round we would waltz way passed midnight You know it was always Joe & me, arm in arm
Charming & cozy a tavern it was, with candles lit on every table A warm atmosphere, a nice place to meet new friends & old Back toward the rear of the bar was the game room Always someone playing a game of pool, or sometimes acting a fool Remembering what a good time I use to have there Enjoying myself at The Country Cabaret with Joe The friendship we shared was like no other, he was such a great guy
A lot of years have passed since the old Cabaret closed down Now & then I have fond memories of the time I spent there talking to Joe Darnedest thing, years later I ran into Joe at restaraunt where I worked
Joe came in & we talked for hours, we dated & Joe proposed to me Out of the blue... But there was phantom between us, I loved another guy Every now & then I recall the good old days at the old Cabaret and Joe © 2010 Deborah Leah Krempa |
