Just Fishing At Ten Mile CreekA Poem by Deborah Leah KrempaJust fishing at Ten Mile Creek Underneath the crickety old bridge So many memories were made Times I like to remember when I think of you
Fishing along the riverbank & building a campfire I recall catching bullheads, perch & bluegill, cooking them in a fry pan Scenes play in my head of our children playing there How they use to love to explore the wooded area I recall the ghost stories you use to tell them Now & then you would mention such tall tales of Gargoyles & how they would come out in the middle of the night
A treehouse in the distance some other kids built in the tallest of trees The way you climbed it all the way to the top, waving down at us
The times the ice-cream truck would stop on a hot summer's day Every now & then I fondly recall these memories of us as a family Nice to spend a day or evening or two camping there with you
Many times we journeyed there just the two of us I recall the romantic times like when I carved our names on a tree Lying with you side by side along the riverbank & kissing with you Evenings cuddled up around the fire, the moon & stars shining bright
Completely engulfed in romance, making love under a weeping willow Recall how I use to lay my head on your shoulder for my pillow Embracing the beauty of nature from sunrise to sunset Each of these moments I cherish beyond measure, moments I so treasure Kindly recalling you & I & the kids just fishing at Ten Mile Creek © 2010 Deborah Leah Krempa |
