I Shall Survive This Storm

I Shall Survive This Storm

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

I shall survive this storm

Send in the thunder & the lightning

Hail falling down on my head, I shall survive this storm

A broken heart, I've endured many of them, before I met you

Love will find me again, when I least expect it to

Let it rain, make it pour from the heavens above

So you go your way & I will go mine

Until we drift far enough away from one another to not regret

Rainy days & long lonely nights

Vows were broken between us

I don't trust you with my heart anymore & you don't trust me with yours

Vows were broken between us

Each time you raised your fist to me, you hurt me way too deep

Time & again, I took you back, made believe you'd stop abusing me

Hell, it was a living hell for the both of us

I should have left you such a long time ago

Stayed, only God knows why I stayed

Survive, I shall survive this storm

Today, I break free from this misery

Out of excuses for such unfitting behavior

Running as fast as I can & not looking back

Many a storm I have weathered with you, no more
